Kickoff Spokatopia 2023 with a 5k trail run Saturday, July 8!

New to trail running? Or looking for a quick trail run to start your day? Join us at Camp Sekani Park in Spokane on Saturday morning, July 8, 2023, for the Spokatopia 5k Trail Run – the perfect start to a day of Spokatopia festivities for first-timers and experienced trail runners alike. New trail running shoes courtesy of Altra and other prizes for the top two male and female finishers will be awarded. Missed the online registration deadline? Sign up by 7:30 at the race start the day of the trail run!


This run is open to all levels looking to explore the trails around Camp Sekani Park and get a workout before Spokatopia launches for the day. Join us at 7:30 to pick up a few quick tips at the optional free trail running clinic before the trail run starts at 8 a.m.

Then enjoy the day at Spokatopia with the Adventure Pass ($10 value), a beverage ticket good at the Spokatopia Bikes & Brews adult beverage garden, and a Spokatopia bandana that comes with your race registration!

Race registration in advance online is only $25 or $35 for day-of registration. The run starts near the orange/red garage with the cool MTB mural on the door by the gate and the start of the Up Chuck Trail (look for the banner). Parking at Camp Sekani is limited, so double your fun and use one of our nearby Park & Bike locations and park your rig and ride your bike anywhere from 1 to 5 miles to the trail run start. Optional Trail Running Clinic: Show up at 7:30 AM for a 15-20 minute clinic with trail running tips led by Trey Nichols with NW Mobile Physical Therapy. In our Trail Run Clinic, we’ll take a quick look at why your ankles and hips need to be stronger for trail running, as well as, specific exercises for getting them stronger. We’ll also give you pro tips for feeling your best on the uphill and downhill.

About our trail running clinic/trail run coordinator:Trey has been running roads and trails for over 20 years. He has worked with runners as a physical therapist for over 9 years. In his clinic (NW Mobile PT), he loves helping injured runners get back to running. He also loves helping runners take their running to the next level with his RUN READY camp. Riverside State Park is his favorite place to run. If his wife or boys want to go for a run, he’s always happy to stop what he’s doing for a good jog around the neighborhood too! You’ll almost always spot him running with his trusted sidekick Sassy-dog!
