There’s Day 1. There’s Day 2. And there’s SPOKATOPIA AT NIGHT!
On Saturday, July 13, our nighttime activities will kick off and run from 6:00-10:00 p.m. Enjoy the time of day when the summer heat wanes and the first few stars come out as you eat, drink, and play in the festival meadow. Here’s the lineup:
6:00-10:00 p.m.—This is the beautiful time of summer evening when the temperatures start to cool down and the meadow gets shady. It’s the perfect time to head to BIKES & BREWS BEVERAGE GARDEN (Ages 21+), with drinks from Rainier Beer, Millwood Brewing Company, One Tree Hard Cider, No-Li Brewhouse, Ground Breaker (gluten free), Big Sky Brewing Company, Bay Bottle Brewing, Liberty Ciderworks, and Bare Culture Kombucha. Each dollar from the Bikes & Brews beverage garden goes directly to support your mountain bike trails through Evergreen East, so enjoy a cold one and know you’re doing a good thing at the same time.
6:00-9:30 p.m.—SET UP CAMP: if you were lucky enough to snag one of our limited campsites, it’s the perfect time to pitch your tent so you’re ready to roll into bed as soon as the evening festivities are over. REI tents, sleeping bags and sleeping pads are available to rent at REI. Stop by the downtown Spokane REI store before the festival and show your camping confirmation to receive 23% off one rental or off the purchase of one REI brand item.
6:30-7:45 p.m.—Night time KIDS’ ACTIVITY with JOSEPH DRUMHELLER ART PROJECT and STORY TIME (Free): Join Joseph Drumheller, a four-time award-winning author and creator of over 30 children’s books for the family presentation “Creativity and Nature.” There will be a brief, interactive puppet show for kids ages 5-8, and the older kids and adults can enjoy imagination exercises and a Jeopardy-style question and answer game about the outdoor wonders in the Greater Spokane area.
7:00-9:00 p.m.—Listen to MATT MITCHELL’s live mixture of heartfelt originals, light-hearted “Talking Blues-style” storytelling, and foot-stomping acoustic rock n’ roll tunes. Hang out in a camp chair and roast a s’more at the REI CAMPGROUND while you relax!
Dusk (approx. 9:00 p.m.)—(Free) Catch an outdoor screening of LIFE CYCLES, a classic mountain bike film, in the festival meadow! Mountain biker or not, the show’s trails, riders, and music will get you psyched to explore.
10:00 p.m.—(Free) Black Diamond Glow-in-the-Dark GEAR TREASURE HUNT! 30 lucky people will get the chance to strap on a Black Diamond headlamp and head into the forest to search for Black Diamond gear hidden in the woods with reflective tape. Each person is limited to one item, so everyone will take home an awesome prize. The contest will get started right after the evening mountain bike film “Life Cycles” at around 9:50 p.m. on Saturday night in front of the beer garden. Follow the Spokatopia Facebook or Instagram pages for details on how to sign up!
That’s it, folks. Dream about Spokatopia Day 2 from your personal campsite in the fresh, starry night air!
